AaNA Celebrates Nurses Week 2021

At the Alaska Nurses Association, we look forward to honoring Alaska’s amazing nurses during Nurses Week. This year, our celebratory efforts continued to look a little different due to the pandemic.

With the help of the community, we held our sixth annual Kids Art Contest, asking Alaskan kids to create artwork under the theme “Nurses are our Heroes.” Our winners’ artwork, as well as all the entries, can be viewed at www.facebook.com/AlaskaNurses.

In addition, we hosted two virtual continuing education events and a virtual paint party led by Palette Pop Up Art. And because we so appreciate our members, we had daily prize drawings and gave away crazy fun compression socks as a small token of our thanks.

To round out the week, our Love a Nurse Run again went virtual. Local artist and AaNA member Ashley Seabolt created a one-of-a-kind shirt design for participants, and runners were able to complete the 5K anywhere and anytime they wanted through Nurses Week. Thanks to everyone who participated and raised funds for the Foundation for Alaska Nurses. It is always a privilege and honor for us to recognize the contributions of nurses in Alaska and to show our gratitude for our nursing colleagues. We hope to see you at our events next year!
